Minnie Mouse Makes Hollywood

After 90 years in show business Minnie Mouse is finally getting the recognition she deserves. Today, she will be receiving her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a piece of glory Mickey Mouse received back in 1978. Though Minnie has had to wait a long time for her own star, this does not mean her fame has gone unnoticed. Minnie's years in the film industry have been filled with excitement, humor and of course, fashion.
Minnie Mouse's Rise to Fame
1928 - Along side Mickey, Minnie made her film debut in the short film Steamboat Willie. (1)

1930 - In the comic strip "Mr. Slicker and The Egg Robbers," which was printed from September 1930 through December 1930, Minnie's family was introduces to fans. Her father, Marcus Mouse, and mother (unnamed) are both farmers. Her grandparents are Marshal and Matilda Mouse and her uncle is named Milton Mouse. (5)
1942 - Minnie's full name is revealed to be Minerva Mouse in the comicstrip "The Gleam." (5)
1962 - Minnie's two nieces, Millie and Melody, are introduced. (2)

1983 - After a few decades of lying low in the film industry Minnie makes a comeback in the movie Mickey's Christmas Carol. (5)
1986 - The Walt Disney Company declares this to be the "Year of Minnie" as the parks set out to celebrate her character and bring her back to center stage. (1)(2)

1988 - Minnie starts in her first live action movie, Totally Minnie, where a 'nerd' comes to her Center for the Totally Un-hip looking for her guidance. (1)(4)

2018 - Minnie Mouse receives her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

- Minnie was first designed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks (3)
- First voiced by Walt Disney in 1928, Minnie has had four other voice actresses provide her cheery personality on screen: Marcellite Garner (1930-1939), Thelma Boardman (1940-1942), Ruth Clifford (1942-1952) and Russi Taylor (1986-present). (1)
- Depending on the film, Minnie may be viewed as simply dating Mickey or may be married to him, but among the Disney staff it is known that both Mickey and Minnie are a married couple.
- Her original fashion design concept was based off of the flapper dancers. (3)
